Four seasons in one

Wandering through the Alameda Gardens the other day in my quest for plants from Australia (here), I was struck not just by plants from all around the world, but trees, shrubs, and plants in all stages of the life cycle.
Cactus and aloe reaching for the sky together – there is nearly always an aloe in flower throughout the year
The bare outline of the flowering cherry (prunus) is the typical specimen we would expect to see in winter.
The hibiscus bush is amass with beautiful flower buds on the point of blooming.
The delicate periwinkle (vinca), perfectly formed and fully open on a cold but sunny February day.
And the last one, flowers long gone and now in an autumnal state, full of soft down – which is my contribution to the photo challenge of the week ‘down’.
Duotone note – the reason I didn’t use the last photo as the header was, because, naturally it made everything mustard, and I can really live without that for every post 😀

Your warmer climate is so obvious with how far advanced everything is 🙂
Duotone, hmmm, I like the green, but it’s still edging towards a mustardy yellow with the background 😉

Typical sub-tropical mediterranean climate I guess. No extremes, damp, sunny, and often humid. Hence the odd mix of everything. It’s nice to see something always in flower though, I must say, and I do like exotic plants that flower in our ‘winter’ here.
No. This is definitely a green DT. Really. Honestly. Truly.

OK, I did not know about this post. I did receive notification of your next one and that is how I found this one. So I better check if there are other posts I may have missed elsewhere.
Anyhow, this is definitely coming across as a green tone at my end. Odd that it didn’t pick up on the hibiscus blossoms, as the red is an accent colour while the green is predominant. 🙂
All the seasons in place, as you say. I have never seen aloe blossoms before. And those cgiant cacti remind me of Arizona.

yeah, I quite fancied red, one of the reasons I used that pic 😀 – and I thought red might have come out on the next building one, but …..
At this rate if everything ends up green and mustard I will be looking for a new theme!
