Seven Mile Beach.
If it is anything like 90 mile beach in New Zealand it won’t be seven miles, but either way, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.
Islay, the most southerly of the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland, is known as the Queen of the Hebrides. And quite rightly so. Who could visit Islay and not fall in love with its beauty? Or its malt whisky?
If the word foreign means exotic, unknown, a different country to my own, Islay fits all those descriptions.
It’s often been said, by many people before me, that if it wasn’t for the weather, Islay and the rest of the Hebrides would be Caribbean paradise islands with their low population, beautiful buildings, white sandy beaches and clear blue water. The trouble was, when we went, the weather was wonderful. It truly was a paradise.
Endless days of sunshine, camped above Seven Mile Beach, at Kintra camp site.
We noticed a couple in a caravan or a motorhome with glasses and a bottle of wine. I resolved to buy some posh plastic glasses in future to enjoy our cliff top camping.
In the morning, we took the dogs on the beach. In the evening, we did the same.
One of the best ‘foreign’ holidays I have ever had.
I’ve added a gallery version to replace the previous slideshow, as the pix are slightly bigger like this.
Wow. Seriously gorgeous!!
I am so there! 🙂

As I said one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Foreign and exotic almost on my doorstep, just another country and ferry ride away. I wish DT would let me post bigger piccies and a bigger slideshow though.
You have posted some beautiful pix of your corner of the world. I truly think this matches up to anywhere.

the gallery slide show does provide a larger view. and i fully agree – this is absolutely lovely. that’s why i always say that my favourite spot on the planet is that – so far 🙂

Yes, I don’t really like gallery but DT obviously doesn’t really cater for decent slideshows so thought it might be a better option. I like the effortless of slideshows and the motion but gallery is clearly the better option. Thanks for the feedback. I may take the slideshow down now.

I do that with some of yours sometimes 🙂
I’ve added gallery which I don’t normally like but at least they come up bigger than they do on slideshow.

Seven miles might be exaggerated, but it is indeed close to 5 miles at least (depends on how exactly you measure).

I could look at these images forever, wishing myself there. Foreign but they seem so familiar. I love dogs on beaches – they are the essence of “in the moment” No matter how lost I am I can always find myself on a beach. Your pics bring back my own happy memories 🙂

A natural undeveloped quiet beach is always beautiful. And to get glorious weather too made it perfect. You can tell how quiet it was because we had let the dogs off the lead as there was no-one or no other dogs for them to disturb 😀
It was just a lovely place. It was quite hard to leave actually, but we had an island pass for 17 days that gave us all the ferry journies for a couple of hundred quid so we had to make the most of it and see as many islands as possible.
Aus has its own beautiful beaches too though. I must find some of those. I’ve got a few of Tassy actually. Not sure about NSW! Apart from Bondi of course.

Looking at your pics reminded me I need to find some time and put some beach posts on ED places 🙂

That will be good. Especially if it is north NSW as I didn’t get very far north. I never made Queensland or NT. A did of course so no doubt he will enjoy seeing them too.

I will definitely have to try and talk Pat into it.
Btw…got good news from work today. I don’t have to cover on reception at HQ and they want me to stay at CISS until the end of the month at least. (Phew! got out of that one easy) 😉

Well, it will probably piss it down 😀 Normally they have hellish good summers, it’s a little-known secret.
I am sure you would be a charmer on reception. I wouldn’t mind it if they paid me shedloads.
I owe you a mail I’m still in Monday syndrome, ie I do nothing on Monday, so sorry about that.

As for the mail, I do remember your problem with the time change jet lag thingy and I figured in your own time you’ll get to it. See, I think about you and am not totally unsympathetic. 😀

It’s partly drafted, I can’t blame jet lag, how about a Podenco who suddenly wants to go out every two hours and either wants me to sleep with him or play with him? Does that count?
