Rainy days in Gib

It has been extremely wet in Gibraltar. It has rained virtually non-stop for a week. By which I mean every day, and most of the day. Finding a window of opportunity to shoot out with the dog has been a challenge.
I had to go to the Job Centre in the pissing down rain although I did wonder how many people had rung in sick. I went to the bank in the same pissing down rain. My partner went to the shops in his shiny orange waterproofs – my Job Centre trek was done in full Goretex gear.
On the bus the other day, people were talking about how they couldn’t remember when there had been so much rain in Gibraltar in previous years.
Coming back from Spain earlier this week, it was raining. Walking out of the bus station at La Linea it was OK. Hitting the main road was not OK as the rain was accompanied by driving rain. And as for walking across the airfield…
You can tell it is raining because the cloud is virtually on the ground.
Except – now, today, Saturday, the sun is shining.

I was going to say, perhaps the rain that we’ve had ALL summer had moved south, but no, of course it hasn’t, because its still raining here, though we do have a promise of a couple of dry days soon……….I live in hope 😉

Meant to be dry now for the rest of the week, which is good as I put on a wash, and we haven’t ordered a fan belt for the tumbly, may not either due to cost and energy use. A has learnt how to drape washing artistically around the flat 🙂

Actually I don’t think it does. It falls mainly in the mountains, especially in Málaga province (mine). It often bypasses our village oddly.

There has been a very generous serving of rain here as well in November so far. And the sun is beginning to emerge to start the day here, too.
The rain certainly adds drama to your vistas!

The way the cloud covers the Rock is always stunning. Rain is rain, but the thick and visible cloud over gib is something else again.
Is it not odd how the weather is similar in so many places all over the world? A bit like the global economy I suppose.

The lack of connection is the ones in charge of the economy dispute the commonality of weather and climate around the world.

We’ve had our fair share of rain too. We were at the tail end of hurricane Sandy, and then we got a nor’ easter, which dumped lots of snow on the already devastated areas in the US. We didn’t get any damage, only rain, and lots of it!

Truth is, after the long hot dry summer and little rain last winter, Spain certainly needs rain. And my garden appreciates it too (for the next post).
Thanks. I find it continually fascinating how very different the Rock can look, cold and grey, golden reflecting the sunlight – or shrouded in mist, cloud or fog.

Impressive photo of the Rock shrouded in cloud. I wonder if it’s like those elusive items in the shops… we’ve had not much rain on the south east coast and inland areas of NSW since June… Gib has our rain! 😉

Thanks. It’s often hard to remember to take pix of your local surroundings because you get used to them, and yet the Rock is always so interesting (to me anyway) whatever the weather, it has so many different appearances.
We could be handing it back to you, looks like our raining spell is over for a few days, and with that the temperature has dropped too. Any colder and we will be in single figure temps! Brrrrrr.
