And to continue with the donkey theme …
Wandering around the beach – as you do – a while ago, we met this lovely donkey tied up on the side of the road. A totally different donkey to the last pic. I didn’t know why he was wearing that strange headband. To help him flick flies away?
We said hello, and stroked him happily, while he stood there patiently and calmly.
We’d heard local talk that one of the Spanish families down the beach homed donkeys, a sort of unofficial donkey sanctuary. Maybe this was part of it?
We continued our walk around the beach, it was fairly early, and noticed an unfamiliar car and a suspicious looking character. He was talking to one of the locals, who glancing up, and recognising us continued on with the chat. Or to be more precise, the deal. The dope deal.
None of our business so we continued on our way. I have no views either way about dope. I don’t and haven’t smoked either dope or tobacco, but I think there are worse sins in the world than smoking the odd joint. But it’s illegal, which is one reason why I wouldn’t even consider it. Ms SqueakyClean here.
Up to other people what they choose to do. What struck us as odd, was that the seller looked up, and even though we were quite blatantly foreign, which clearly worried the suspicious buyer, knew who we were, and didn’t bat an eyelid. In a small community you keep yourself to yourself and mind your own business.
Recently we saw a sign near the beach for burro (donkey) taxis. I was saddened to see that. Some donkey sanctuary if they are offering donkey rides for fat idle people ๐ฆ
Maybe he’s a dope smuggler donkey? ๐

That might explain why he is so calm and serene?

How cute is he ๐
I think your guess is probably correct regarding his head gear. I used to put a fly fringe on my horse for the same reason.
Your view on dope/smoking? My sentiment exactly!
By the way, I love the colour WP has chosen, it’s the donkeys spots exactly ๐

Isn’t his dappling just beautiful? ๐ I hadn’t realised that DuoTone had picked on that, just thought it was a good colour. I liked the last dark one too for the other donkey.
Thanks for the comment about the flies/headband.
Actually I am looking at him again and wondering if he is part mule?

Yes, I thought the same, his head is more horse like if you hide his enormous, but gorgeous ears. ๐

I was looking at the body too. It just doesn’t look donkeyish, too slim and elegant. And his face didn’t look like previous donkey. But this is Andalucรญa and there is all sorts of interbreeding!!

What a gorgeous donkey/mule. They are truly my idea of a cute/fluffy pic. I love the idea of a donkey/mule sanctuary but agree, hope they wouldn’t be exploited, and as for dope, the legalisation or non seems to be full of agendas… I think there is a degree of acceptance of personal use here, not that I know much about it but I believe you can grow a plant and ingest the foliage without being fined or thrown in goal…

Isn’t he just? And that expression on his face as we were leaving too. I could have spent all morning talking to him and stroking him. They do make good fluffy pix because of their wonderful temperament and gentle nature. A bit like Pippa unless there is a cat in sight ๐
I think they are meant to be pretty tolerant in Spain about dope too. No idea about Gib and personal use, but there is a fair amount of smuggling goes on around here so it’s quite as issue in terms of trafficking. When I was reporting years ago back in the UK people did get prosecuted for personal use. I think there are better things to waste police and court time and money on.
